Diddy Kong Racing Original Soundtrack
Diddy Kong Racing was developed by RARE and released for the Nintendo 64 in November of 1997. It was originally going to be a real-time strategy game called Wild Cartoon Kingdom but later became a racing game featuring the star from Donkey Kong Country Diddy Kong and original characters such as Timber, Tiptup and Pipsey. The soundtrack is composed by long time composer David Wise. There were three different Original Soundtracks released for Diddy Kong Racing: Diddy Kong Racing Soundtrack CD(US Version that only contains 16 tracks); Higher, Faster, Further • The Original Diddy Kong Racing Soundtrack(German Version - 42 tracks) and Diddy Kong Racing Original Soundtrack(Japanese Version - 42 tracks).
The German and Japanese Versions both contain the same tracks and title names(translated) but with different ordering. The German Version follows the US Version's tracks up until 16. Finding a used copy of either the German or Japanese Versions is nearly impossible, we've searched on and off for years and if you come across a copy, it's going to set you back around $200-250. The US Version isn't too hard to find, there's one copy on ebay right now but even that short soundtrack—and odd head-shaped disc—is going to set you back $150-175. If you still wish to spend that kind of money, keep searching online auctions sites and you may eventually come across a copy.
I played the heck out of this game back in the day with family and listening through the OST for the first time in years, perhaps even two decades, is certainly a treat and they're just as catchy as I remembered. Too bad we'll probably never see any sort of upscaled version or HD Remake but hey, at least we have the music. Diddy Kong Racing Original Sountrack is uploaded in both FLAC and MP3. Enjoy!
